Photography is more than a record. It's a passion, the way we capture and celebrate life. In this album, I've assembled some
of my favorite photographs.
Dashi-no-kai was established in 2000 by a group of friends who wanted a children's activity in Japanese Festival, "Matsuri".
We selected a cart called "Dashi". It is a moving stage pulled by children.
The Dashi ia an ornately decorated stage built upon a cart, which is traditionally pulled around town during festivals
to show off its 'wonderfulness' to all the townspeople. Children with all ages help pull the Dashi, while others ride the
cart and beat the taiko drums.
Since September 1, 2001, we maintain Dashi, decorate it and operate Dashi procession for Japanese Festival at Missouri
Botanical Garden every labor day weekend. We also operate Dagashi Natsukashi-ya which is a Japanese confectionery and toy
store. All proceeds from this store is sorely used for maintenance and operation of Dashi procession. We are a not for profit
committee.
